Roger Derrick (b. 1981) is a fine artist operating out of Burlington County, New Jersey. While his illustrative aesthetic was honed during attendance at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Roger has concentrated much of his works around representational fine art and contemporary portraiture.  An early influence on his artistic process, Roger studied under the tutelage of renowned portrait artist Marvin Mattelson and illustrator Thomas Woodruff and has since drawn influence from a number of fine art professionals with specific attention to artistic integrity, craft and draftsmanship. Further privileged to receive a close mentorship after befriending the late artistic legend, Geoffrey Holder, Derrick’s understanding of the professional industry was broadened through the lens of a multi-disciplinary expert.

Roger Derrick’s work has been juried into a roster of national exhibitions and has been described as possessing a distinct, yet timeless quality that captures subtle underlying narratives within accurate portrayals of unique individuals.  The genuine spirit of his subject's live within the sensitive application of media, further revealing intimate glimpses into the very nature of being.
